Bonaire is part of the Netherlands Antilles, a group of Caribbean islands that were once under Dutch colonial rule. The map of the island is titled "Blad I to X Topographische Karte van Bonaire in 10 Bladen" and was created around 1915 by Willem A. Jonckheer Jr. It consists of ten map sheets.
It is a detailed color lithograph that accurately depicts the topography of Bonaire. The use of color distinguishes between natural and man-made features. Key topographical features include contour lines and elevation points, which illustrate the island's mountainous terrain. The coastlines are depicted in detail with mudflats, beaches, and lagoons. The map also records roads, paths, and infrastructure such as bridges and dikes, thus reflecting the island's transport network. Furthermore, cadastral boundaries as well as the borders and names of former plantations are recorded, which are important for understanding the island's agricultural history. The depiction of infrastructure, such as windmills and irrigation systems, underscores the island's dependence on agriculture at the time.

Historical maps show traces of time and use, the intensity and nature of which vary depending on the map and its intended purpose. The print offered is a reproduction.
