This is a very detailed French nautical chart of the Shetland Islands from 1804. The map is executed as a black-and-white copper engraving and shows the archipelago with its numerous bays, sounds, and smaller islands. As a nautical chart, it also contains typical navigation lines (rhumb lines) radiating from a central point. Longitude: The longitude coordinates refer to the Paris meridian, which was common for French maps of that time.
