The map of Gibraltar shows the Strait of Gibraltar, an important sea strait that connects the Mediterranean with the Atlantic. Key landmarks include the city of Gibraltar and prominent points such as Europa Point and Cape Carbonara.
The Corsica map shows Corsica, which at the time was a French overseas department with Bastia as its capital. The map highlights various locations on the island, such as Ajaccio, Corte, and the Strait of Bonifacio.
The entire work consists of twelve hand-colored nautical charts from the atlas "The Little Sea Torch" by René Bougard and John Thomas Serres, published in 1801. These charts are part of a sea atlas that was an indispensable tool for sailors during the age of sail. The atlas serves as a coastal guide with illustrations and maps for navigation along the Atlantic coast of Europe and in the Mediterranean.
The historical maps show signs of age and use, with these traces manifesting in varying degrees and ways depending on the individual map and its usage.

Historical maps exhibit signs of age and use, the intensity and nature of which vary depending on the map and its intended purpose. The print offered is a reproduction.
