The "Carta dell'Isola di Sardegna" is a detailed map of Sardinia, created in 1865 and featured in an Italian atlas from 1895. The calligraphic title in the top right, with its sweeping ornamental lines, provides a beautiful accent. The island fills the portrait format almost entirely, and the relief is sculpted with fine hatching and soft shading. A yellow border along the coast lifts the outlines from the paper. In the north, the map extends to the Strait of Bonifacio, including Corsica, La Maddalena, and Caprera. To the west, the Isola dell'Asinara as well as the islands of San Pietro and Sant'Antioco are marked, along with the major gulfs of Asinara, Oristano, Orosei, Palmas, and Cagliari. In addition to Cagliari, Sassari, Oristano, Alghero, Iglesias, Nuoro, and Tempio Pausania, the map records roads, provincial and district boundaries, and the early railway lines, some already in operation and others still under construction. In the top left, there are scale bars in metric measurements, Piedmontese miles, and Italian nautical miles, while the legend ("Segni convenzionali") in the bottom right explains the map symbols. A beautiful wall decoration for lovers of Sardinia, collectors of historical cartography, and anyone who appreciates maritime maps and coastal depictions.
