The map "Holland and Belgium" was engraved by GH Swanston and published in 1872. Measuring 42 × 53 cm in its original size, it appeared as a plate in an atlas issued between 1854 and 1872.

It is a finely executed, printed, and hand-colored atlas map, whose color-coded borders facilitate the understanding of political divisions and geographical orientation. Characteristic of Victorian cartography, the style combines high precision with decorative design. The map depicts the Netherlands and Belgium with their political borders, major cities, rivers, coastlines, and other topographical features.

Highlighted locations include Amsterdam, Brussels, and Antwerp, while the Rhine and Meuse rivers are clearly marked as central waterways. A specific reference to the overseas territories belonging to the Netherlands points to the colonial context of that era and provides the map with additional historical significance.
