The map “Provincia Ecclesiastica di Monaco nel Regno di Baviera” shows the Bavarian ecclesiastical province of Munich-Freising with its suffragan dioceses. It depicts the dioceses of Augsburg in the west, Regensburg in the north, Passau in the east, as well as the central Archdiocese of Munich-Freising with the episcopal sees of Munich and Freising. Surrounding areas such as Württemberg, Vorarlberg, Tyrol, German Tyrol, and Austria, as well as the dioceses of Eichstätt and Bamberg, are indicated in calligraphy on the map’s edge, situating the province within the South German context. Episcopal sees such as Augsburg, Regensburg, Passau, Munich, and Freising are highlighted with red dots, and numerous smaller locations are finely labeled. Rivers like the Danube and the Inn are drawn in detail, as are lakes such as Lake Constance, Lake Ammer, and Lake Chiem. The map illustrates the ecclesiastical structure of Upper Bavaria, Swabia, and the Upper Palatinate in the 19th century within the Kingdom of Bavaria.
