The reproduction of this beautiful map, which consists of two map sheets and bears the title "Kaart van het stadsdistrict van het eiland Curaçao," was created by land surveyor Werbata in 1912. The original color lithograph measures 124 cm in width and 61 cm in height, depicts the city district of Curaçao at a scale of 1:5,000, and features detailed topography as well as the city plan of Willemstad, the capital of the Dutch Antillean island of Curaçao. Stone buildings are shaded in pink, while wooden structures are shaded in yellow, effectively conveying the architectural landscape. Furthermore, it shows government and military areas, the commercial district, and infrastructure including roads and canals.
The map highlights Willemstad's strategically favorable location. The city is divided by the St. Annabaai channel, which flows into the Schottegat lagoon. This port facility played a crucial role in the city's development into a multicultural commercial center.
